Research
In the Gerstner Group, we draw inspiration from classic molecular architectures when designing molecules for emerging applications. These familiar scaffolds often contain adaptable features that can be strategically modified to tackle pressing challenges in chemistry and chemical biology.
We think of this process much like remodeling a house: keep the parts that work while introducing functionality to address these new challenges. Members of the Gerstner Group apply this philosophy as they remodel molecules for applications ranging from photocatalyst design to the creation of innovative bioactive scaffolds inspired by natural products.
